Question:
another question ! I use orange vocoder, but I only can use the keyboard on the display by mouse, not by midi ? Is this possible with orange vocoder, or is there another (plugin) vocoder that can be operated by midi keybord. The old (analog) moog vocoder works that way, you sing something in the mike and you play a cord on the keyboard at the same time.
Answer:
I don't think it's possible to use midi to play the synth that is built into Orange Vocoder. What you can do though, is use a separate VSTi (or audio track) to provide the carrier signal. How to do it (on PC): Place the Orange Vocoder as an insert effect on a group channel. Send both the modulator and the carrier tracks to this group. Pan the modulator and the carrier hard left and hard right respectively. From memory, you then have to disable the internal synth of Orange and maybe use the input flip switch if the modulator and carrier are the wrong way around. -or- The Vocoder included with Cubase 5.1 has a midi input and a synth built in, so you can play the vocoder without the hassle of using a separate VSTi.
