Question:
Especially remarks of doubt that any virtual synth could make any sound like that of a Bulchla or a Moog. Has any one had experience with the new Moog V by Arturia?
Answer:
IMO... Virtuals do not sound the same as real analogue. They do not sound as rich or warm. But for the ease of use/cost they come close enough not to worry about it. On some tracks I used a MiniMoog lead simulation from the K2000 because it sounded sharper than the real thing - it's whatever works for you at the time. The Moog V is very, very good. But when you put it against some real analogue the difference is not difficult to hear. If you have the time/money/patience/space then real analogue is excellent - otherwise a virtual will do you a fine job. Once you start making some music you just forget about how it's making the sound.
