can anyone recommend any way of cross referencing the serial number of the piano to get an estimated time of manufacture please?

Question:
Forgive the errant posting if not related to this group, but I havent a clue where to start with this. I have recently been given an upright piano manufactured by one Ralph Allison & Sons of London. I understand from my searches so far that they were based in Wardour Street, London W1 - can anyone recommend any way of cross referencing the serial number of the piano to get an estimated time of manufacture please? Any sites/emails etc very much appreciated, I'm very curious to try and see when it was made as I know nothing about pianos. I suspect it is c.1900 as it belonged to a friend's grandmother.

Answer:
Pierce Piano Atlas lists Allison, Ralph and Sons...Waldour Street, London... but no serial numbers. The atlas also lists...Allison Pianos... 50 New Bond Street, London. There are serial numbers with this listing and I would suspect the companies were related if not the exact same. What is your serial number?
