Question:
I am currently looking for a used piano and a friend of mine is willing to sell her Worms piano. It's a four years-old upright, in good condition. Both the lid and the sound board bear the Worms brand, but on the board the Young-Chang symbol can be seen and the invoice has been made for a Young-Chang piano. The model name (E-118) is also a Young-Chang reference. My supposition is that Young-Chang have sold pianos in some countries under the brand Worms, but so far, I have not been able to find any further information, neither on the Young-Chang web pages, nor on other piano related sites, nor even in rmmp archive. Could someone give me some information on the subject ? I'd like to confirm especially if the only difference between Worms and Young Chang pianos is the sticker on the lid, or if it may exist a difference of quality.
Answer:
I'd say your supposition is correct. I have never heard of a Worms piano (and I'm not too sure I'd want one that said Worms on it myself) but I would guess based on the model number, the invoice, and other references you have that it is in fact nothing different that a standard Young Chang production model that has been sold through a distributor who uses that stencil name. Have a tech check it out for you, and if you like it and the tech says it is ok, go for it.
