Can I switch from guitar to synth, or both via the pedals on the floor unit, and quickly?

Tagged As: Roland Guitar Synth

Question:
Will my finish be damaged by the unit that mounts on the guitar? Has anyone thought of any safe alternative methods of mounting it, like a padded clip of some sort on the edge of the guitar, etc? I heard that the tracking is much better with the expansion board. How fast is it, relative to 120 BPM? Will it keep up with 16th notes at this meter?

I have a GR1, pretty much the same thing, except it has percussion and an onboard sequencer that I never use anymore, since it's hooked up to my computer. Basically, they are solid units. Tracking isn't absolutely perfect, but it has come a long way from the earlier toys, giving us guitarists access to all those cool sounds! > Can I switch from guitar to synth, or both via > the pedals on the floor unit, and quickly? Yes. There's a switch on the pickup controller allowing you to go between guitar and synth tones--or combine them. > I heard that the tracking is much better with > the expansion board. I think it really depends on the synth pickup. The speed it'll keep up depends on the patch you're playing with. Fading patches obviously can't be picked that fast, since they're meant for chord playing, but other stuff keeps up pretty well.
