FUQ (eff -yu - cue) - FAQ's with an EDGE

Is there a way around this problem so that the xv5050 can accept these files as readily as if they were generated by a keyboard trigger?

Question:
The roland xv 5050 will not acknowledge the output from the Roland MC80 other than the GM files. This limitation poses serious limitations of the usable sound library that the xv5050 has at it's disposal. Is there a way around this problem so that the xv5050 can accept these files as readily as if they were generated by a keyboard trigger?

Answer:
Most definately. Use a SYSEX message at the sart of the file to take the 5050 into performance mode. you will then be able to access the rest of the sounds you are looking for. I don't know the 5050 that well but you should be able to find the SYSEX message in the midi implementation or maybe if you ask around someone might have one
