Epiphone/Gibson

Tagged As: Electric Epiphone Gibson Guitar

Question:
What is the difference-be honest now- between a gibson Les Paul, and an Epiphone Les Paul?. I'm looking to get my first electric guitar (used) but I also want one that will last me. Also, In general, are Epiphones good guitars? !-- end question -->

Answer:
Gibson has better quality, for about the cost of about 5 times as much as an Epiphone. Epiphone is a sub-brand of Gibson and are mass-produced in Korea. I have an Epiphone SG-310 myself and I'm pretty happy about it. A friend of mine has an Epiphone SG-400 and replaced the pickups with Gibson pickups for about $100. This changed a lot on the sound. My advice: If your a starter, buy an Epiphone. For real profi players, a Gibson is worth it.

i dont think that epiphone guitars are as bad as alot of people say. i have an epiphone popa chubby flying v and it plays pretty well for a "cheap" guitar. epiphones are an excellent guitar for beginners, however, if you can get yourself an ibanez jem get one! those things play like sex! i want to marry mine.

my friend has a Gibson EDS-1275 double neck guitar, whereas i have an Epiphone GS-1275 double neck, we jammed together and i could hardly notice the difference, but epiphones are cheaper and as the other guy said gibsons are for proffessional guitarists, and overall cost a lot more.
