Anyone have opinion on Epiphone LP-100?

Tagged As: Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar

Question:
Anyone play the Epiphone LP-100 electric guitar? From the pictures of it, the LP-100 looks like the Les Paul Standard. But as with all copies, I know there's a hidden thing that's not shown. Anyone recommend this guitar as a starter's guitar?

Answer:
The LP100 is the lowest of the Epi Les Pauls. It has bolt-on neck, and the woods are different from the standards. It is intended to be the Epi Les Paul starter guitar. If you like the LP look, but aren't sure if guitar is your thing, buy the LP-100. Keep in mind though, that if you don't like playing, you will have a difficult time selling it, except possibly to another beginner, so keep it in good shape. Also, if you find you enjoy playing guitar, you will find yourself wanting a new instrument. The LP-100 is the Epi low-line, and you will outgrow it (but could become a valued backup guitar). I will advise going to www.gibson.com Gibson has a GREAT webpage, with links to ALL of their product's home pages (including the Epi page). The Epi page is also great, and you can compare each of Epi's LP's to each other (and to the Gibsons). In the end, go play one, but if you aren't a proficient player yet, ask someone you know (who is proficient, like your teacher), to play one, and get an opinion, and see if you like the way it sounds. (I hate it when beginners ask about an instrument, and people say, GO PLAY ONE!!! SEE IF YOU LIKE IT....well, if you are a beginner, how can you go play it? You are just starting! Take your teacher or a friend with you.
