epiphone les paul

Tagged As: Epiphone Les Paul Electric Guitar

Question:
Im thinkin' of getting an Epiphone les paul (which model i don't know either a standard, standard plus or custom). I have an american Fender strat but would like a les paul (cant really afford a gibson). The Epiphone les paul seems quite reasonable for the price but I would like to know what people who own them think, are they what there hyped up to be? or ar the overated. Also what colour do you think is best and should it be the custom/plus or standard/plus?

Answer:
I don't know whether an Epi is better than the real thing. I have never played a real Gibson before. But I absolutely love my Epiphone Les Paul. I have a Honeyburst Special Handmade (Korea) and it is very versatile. I play a Mesa/Boogie DC-5 amp and they sound just great together. Blues, funk, rock... She does it all and she's my number one. Compared to my other electric guitar, an Ibanez AR-250, it is heavier (sound and weight, that is), fuller, a bit darker and maybe a bit less defined. But the Ibanez sounds a bit too thin and high for me. Depending on your budget, you might try the new Epiphone Elite series, it seems to be the happy medium between the normal Epi and the real Gibson. And of course, just buy what sounds right to you.

well see it doesnt really matter if u get an epi or a gibson u just got to go by sound for example i own an epiphone les paul jr. vintage sunburst for $100. my father taught me how to pick a guitar and that one sounds better than most gibsons that look better and cost about 10X more than it so dont buy a guitar that u wont be happy with buy one that might get u made fun of for its looks but it will kill most others. who knows u might get lucky and find that sounds good, looks good, plays good and is cheap. just remember good guitars are for good people
