Make 20 Bass Bigger Sounding?

Tagged As: How To Make A Bass Drum

Question:
currently am using a 18x20 bass drum with Aquarian Superkick 1 and Aquarian Regulator with 5 inch offset hole. It sounds good, but not as deep and big as it could. Can anyone recommend a good combo for a bit more deep loudness as well as controlled reverberation? I was thinking going an eq2 on the front and perhaps an eq1 or eq2 evans on the front. I figured having no large hole would increase reverberation as well as volume? What do you all think?

Answer:
Remo Powerstroke 3's front and back. No hole. Slug Beater Badge. Internal mic as needed. Hard plastic or wood beater And if would like to add a slight bit of body, put an ambassador weight Fyberskin 3 on the front of the drum (unmuffled, no hole was going to recommend the Superkick and Regulator combo, as that opened my bass drum quite a bit. I have NO pillows or blankets inside, and I am using a wooden beater. I have used Remo and Evans, and the Aquarian combo is just great for me and I play bigband, pop, jazz, and pop orchestra. Maybe a bigger drum is in your future.
