Why does the Ludwig drum kit sound like a toy set on Chaos?

Tagged As: Ludwig Drum Kit

Question:
All the trouble that Paul goes to, to use Ludwig drums and on the Chaos cd they sound like a toy drum kit. Is this drum set similar to the one Ringo used to have on beatles releases? Because if so then something is horribly wrong... Just listen to any track on Chaos with it and compare it to the power of the drums on say birthday from the white lp. How can they possibly be even remotely similar!

Answer:
I just read in the Post, Paul recovered from his fall down the hole in Montauk (near the place he and Linda spent her last summer) with a massage and a long soak in a hot tub. Doesn't sound like he's stressing over any of this... he's confident! My girlfriend, a huge McFartney fan, has been playing the CD in her car... she says It sounds like shit. i like the drums on this record. they sound small, dirty, homespun, charming, and lo-fi, which is a welcome relief from most music today where the kick and snare are compressed and pro-tooled into a sonic drill intent on boring a hole in the back of your skull. if i ever see nigel godrich i'm going to give him a hi-five for insisting that paul one-man-band this album.
