Question:
I was just informed by the director of the HS drumline i'm teaching this summer, that he purchased 2 sets of used black yamaha tenors. the problem is the rest of the line is white pearl drums. anyone know if i can paint the black drums or wrap them somehow to make them match the rest of the line? don't blame this one on me fellow drummers, i gave the director my wish list in december and it did not include making a mixed line.
Answer:
It could make for an interesting visual to use a nice mix, first by alternating colors, then by splitting by colors...blakc on left, white on right, then switching sides. Otherwise, you can get re-covering kits. They are available through several sources in Modern Drummer magazine. if u wanna do it a cheap way......choose the color u want the drums.....im u can buy contact paper and cover the drums in the color of ur choice....be it Black, white , pink, green, etc etc....the school i teach at has OLD pearls which were white and all scratched up....we went to home depot and bought contact paper the color of Black Marble...looked good....from far u can never tell the drums were older then most of the students on them :) its pretty affordable and easy to do...but if u wanna go all out and spend alot of money u can get it done professionally...peace Toe SFPC Bassline section leader 01/ drum capt SFPC vet 97-01 http://www.sfpc.net (official site) http://www.sfpcbassline.com (official bassline website)
