lookin for used electric

Tagged As: Fender Guitar Sale Used

Question:
I'm looking for a used electric guitar. I wouldn't mind getting a used fender strat or telecaster if the price is right. I'd prefer a higher end model than a used cheapie.

Answer:
Check ebay but do not rely on ebay for a Fender at a good price. Everyone who is looking for a used guitar has his internet search engine armed with the words Fender Gibson etc. Guitars that are advertised for sale in the newspapers are the place to watch. Visit pawn shops but unless the owner is a real dunce, you won't find a bargain there unless you want to buy bargain guitars by the lot. I found that the best thing to do is advertise the fact you are looking for a guitar. Use all the internet resources for this and even the local newspapers, bulletin boards in schools, bulletin boards found in public places etc. What I have found is that there are a lot of nice vintage guitars lying around in people's homes and these people have so little regard about the value of the guitar that they don't even take the time and effort to advertise they have a guitar for sale. They often end up selling the guitar to someone who happens along (often a young family member) and offers to buy it from them. You often hear of the guy who paid peanuts or was given a vintage Gretsch, Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacher, etc from an uncle, aunt or grandparent. So, send out tentacles. Let everyone around you know that you have money for a guitar. Popular guitars like Fender or Gibson at low prices are rare. However, there are very good or even better guitars that do not have popular brand names.
