Yamaha Drums

Tagged As: Yamaha Recording Custom Drum

Question:
I asked for info on all Yamaha Drums and someone was kind enough to send them to me but I unfortunately had deleted the files. Anyways, I have a more narrowd down question. I have a 6-7 year old Export set and was looking at a 5 Piece Yamaha Stage Custom set and was wondering what the differences are and which is the better set. Also, if someone could tell me the next series of Yamaha drums that would be an upgrade from the Exports and the steup up from the Stage Customs. BTW, the 5 piece Stage Custom w/o hardware was $550.. How does that price sound?

Answer:
I'm not very knowledgable of the Exports, but I know the big advantage to the Stage Customs are of course the Yamaha craftmanship, as well as having a lacquered finish, as opposed to the wrapped finish of the Exports. By having the finish lacquered on, the drums resonate much, much better than those with a wrapped finish. The difference is so obvious to the ear, that I'd bet most drummers would be hard-pressed to tell the difference in sound between the Yamaha Stage Custom kits, and the high-end Maple Custom kits. The next step up in the Yamaha line are the Recording Customs, a fairly big step! Yamaha does offer the Club Custom series which is slightly better than the Stage Custom, but they are being phased out.You can always contact me here or at RSHEL...@YAMAHA.COM for Yamaha information.
