Yamaha Snare Drum

Tagged As: Yamaha Snare Drum

Question:
Hello group, maybe someone here can help me. My snare drum has a stuck lug on the snare side. I've already broke one drum key on it tryin' to loosen the lug. This is very strange. If the screw is some how cross threaded, how can I fix it.

Answer:
well...being an ex drum repair girl from the former drum shop here in houston..i suggest that you remove the top head and then remove all the bottom tension rods. then you can probobly remove the whole tensioner from the body of the drum...getting the tension rod out if the tensioner is another story. you can break the rod and go buy yourself a whole new tension lug set up. have you tried using grease in your lug holes? that will decrease your chances of getting them cross threaded and make them easier to turn when you are tuning. this is only a suggestion. i hope you can figure it out. it is the only thing i can think of w/out looking at the drum directly!! and thanx a lot. I do use some Tri-Flow oil in the rod holes. When I find the time, I'll tear down the snare and see what happens, thanx again. Been there, done that. I know now the lugs were cross threaded...DAMN.... I've contacted Yamaha and they informed me that my snare drum has been discontiued and they can't help me. I'm really thinkin' about a new one! I have a Remo snare drum with the old Quick Locs but one is broken. Cheri said she has some but can't find 'em. BUT I haven't talked to her since I changed my name from RemoPaiste to JWDrummmer802
