Question:
I'm thinking about buying a Fender Jazzmaster Reissue, however, I have a few questions. One of the guys who work at a local guitar shop said that the Jazzmasters don't stay in tune because of their floating bridges. And therefor aren't meant to play rock & roll. Well the sound I'm looking for is that of the band Radiohead; dark, warm and fuzzy. This makes me wonder if I should get a guitar with single coil pickups (Jazzmaster), or one with humbuckers (Tornado). Other music I play includes Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. So if anyone has played either of these guitars or know what the ideal guitar would be for that Radiohead 'sound'
Answer:
I have not played the re-issues but the old original jazzmasters are supurb instruments. They were Fenders top of the line for many years. They are not a true jazz guitar by todays standards although jazz can be played on any guitar. They were named jazzmasters because of their very fast neck and they had more tone control than the strats or teles. I won't tell you what is best for you but I will say to always try to buy the top of the line models. A cheap is just that...A cheap guitar.
