Question:
I'm a guitar player and I recently became interested in learning to play bass. I was looking for a project guitar in a pawn shop the other day and they happened to have a nice looking Ibanez bass out. I fooled around with it for a couple of minutes and that was enough to pique my interest. I was wondering if any of you know of any good online sites with bass lessons so I can start to get a feel of what playing bass is like and what I would have ahead of me if I do decide to buy a bass and start learning it.
Answer:
Last month I bought my first bass; the Ibanez Jumpstart starter kit for $339. It has a little 10 watt amp, and a not so in depth beginners video. It started cutting in and out after about a week, and since it was under warranty I took it back to the shop. It had a cold solder joint in the output jack, which they fixed in about three minutes. Otherwise it has functioned perfectly. I am very satisfied with the sound of it, even thogh I have no idea what I'm doing (besides having fun). Everytime I pick it up I improve measurably, reminding me of when I took typing lessons. At first it seemed unnatural as heck, but in time your fingers get used to bending around in new ways. I'll probably get a bigger amp next weekend, but I think I'll keep the 10 amp forever because it sounds decent and is very portable. Looking back, I'm glad I picked the Ibanez.
