What's the best way to get a good bass guitar sound when recording on my PC. So far I've had my best results going direct through my mixer, using a bit of compression, using no effects and having a fairly neutral EQ setting - ie. not overdoing the bass frequencies.

, I had fairly good results DIing just through a mixer, but things really started to improve when I went through the bass amp sims on the J-station.
