Hi, there. I am a novice player and am considering investing in a new guitar. I have followed the _buy the best box_ thread with interest and am willing to follow their advice. I am basically interested in working out rhythm guitar parts for the piano music I write and then doing some recording. I think I want an acoustic electric to have more options on signal processing and effects. I'm wondering about Ovation guitars. It seems like they have a good rep but they seem bright. That may work for recording, but I am looking for opinions about those versus an all-wood guitar.

Ovation guitars all sound like they have a plastic back. Of course that could be because they have a plastic back...
