who've built custom guitars with Warmoth parts?

Tagged As: Prs Guitar Parts

Question:
I have always wanted to buy a PRS, but recently I was dropping off one of my strats at my guitar tech's and he had a custom guitar that he was setting. The owner had purchased the body and neck from Warmoth and had it setup by the tech. It played and felt great! About as good as the PRS Custom 22's I've played. I was blown away, I looked at Warmoth and I could put together a killer guitar for $1500 or so. The PRS Custom's that I have been looking at would be at least double that ($3000 +).

Answer:
I was in the exact same situation about five years ago. I built the guitar, and ended up buying a used PRS three years later. I *do* really like my home made guitar and am actually proud of how well it plays and sounds (in fact, I'll probably build another one in a few years), but it's not the same as the PRS. So, if the PRS is what you genuinely want you'll probably end up buying one anyway (or wishing you had), better sooner than later :)
