Question:
This is my first post, so I'm gonna make it short. I've been playing for about two years, and am thinking about picking up an Epiphone EB-0 or EB-3 bass. I play in a blues band, and from what I've seen this could be a good buy. If anybody could give me any advice, it'd be much appreciated.

Answer:
A friend of mine has an old Epiphone Rivoli, 60something, he swears the reissues are nothing like the originals, I suppose that's easy to believe. Not really up my street so I can't comment myself, but he doesn't like the new ones

The EB-3 is nice an worth the money. The balance is poor with the strap button in the factory location, meaning that the headstock wants to dive to the floor. I'll have to locate another strap button on the underside of the neck, and slightly away from the body to get good balance. Tone & play-ability are great. The retaining nut on the pickup switch was loose on mine when I opened it, but not a big problem to correct. This bass also had a feedback problem, but amp location was changed, and it was OK after that. My first experience with bass feedback in 40 years!
