Question:
Who knows is there any program which is capable of applaying real-time effects (I assume that some Cakewalk and Cubase versions are but I don't know). I want to plug my guitar in mic input on my soundcard and choose effects like wah-wah, reverb and so and listen my guitar through computer speakers with applyed effects live if I may say so. Any hints and help ?
Answer:
.I wrote a computer program recently that will take an input (microphone, line-in, etc.) and then convert it into a tremolo output. I didn't use the standard method of sound manipulation, so there is no latency whatsoever between the input and the output. The program is called SoftStomp - Tremolo. It can do a few different tremolo waveforms and a couple of panning effects. I designed it for soundcards with 32bit volume levels. I've only tested it on a SoundBlaster card, but it will probably work with others. It runs on Win95, Win98 and WinNT. The faster your computer, the better the quality of the output. I got reasonable output from a pentium 233. The output quality isn't quite as good as a hardware box, but it might be close if you are using a very fast computer, and it might change with different soundcards. I am asking a registration of $10.00 for it, but I didn't cripple it in any way. The program can be downloaded from: http://www.CrystalShip.com/softstomp/ Event has the DSP effects pack that can do what your talking about. you can get if from www.event1.com
