I have 22 guitar scale types (in the key of C), with 7 finger positions each. I've tried learning lots of scales before, but I grow uninterested when it feels like I'm learning strings of notes that I won't ever need/use. I'm most likely to stick to learning them if I can be musical with them. I'm wondering which are the most common scales used in modern music, the most musical. In what order should I learn them for maximum payoff?
