Question:
I'm looking for a good software guitar tuner. It will need to be able to tune to non standard tunings and tune bass guitar as well. I've downloaded a couple of free programs but have not had very good results with them. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Answer:
Try this one: http://www.jhc-software.com/gtune.htm And its reaction time seems quite slow to me... I havenīt tried many other software tuners, since the few I tested all were too slow for my taste! Iīm using hardware tuners for over 10 years now ;-) In case you want to use software tuner for real-life instruments, not softsynths, buy a cheap good hardware tuner: If you donīt want to spend too much money, get a KORG CA-30 (chromatic). It can be set to different Hz rates from 430-449, works quite reliable and is cheap (about 20 EUR in Germany) - only disadvantage: thereīs no background lighting which makes it rather useless on a dark stage. If enough light is provided (like in a normal room) the display is just fine Iīve also owned a Korg GT-2 (guitar tuner with fixed 440 Hz normal or flat) for years. a solid thing and my personal favorite! the GT-2 is more expensive (about 40 EUR) though, as it has background lighting... My personal needs as a bass / guitar player get suited very well by those 2 tuners... Korg is a renowned quality manufacturer and their CA-30 is a nice little tool! Get a REAL tuner, itīs worth the money - 20 bucks should not be too expensive anyway!
