Question:
I'm 58 and just trying to learn how to play the guitar. As stated in the other thread my daughter bought me a used Washburn D10N. Anyway not sure which direction to go here. I have two people that I've know for years neither of which lives close to me just old friends that play the guitar and both play very well. I've been e-mailing them about trying to learn to play. One is telling me to learn the strings and to be able to pick first and to read music. I use to be able to read music. I'm sure that it will come back to me if needed. My other friend is telling me to get a beginner book of cords and learn them first, and learn to read tag I think it's called. There was a beginner book that came with the guitar that teaches the strings by reading music, which I've been doing. To be honest it's going pretty slow, but won't get into that here. Any suggestion on which way to go? I'm sure lessons are going to be suggested, but there is not even a music shop where I live.
Answer:
I have put together 43 lessons (on video) plus 15 pieces by different composers. There is all together close to three hours of video lessons. The lessons are designed for the person that does not know how to play guitar at all. To have access to all the lessons there is a subscription fee, but you can preview some of the videos and information about the lessons for free. There is also recorded music(some of my compositions) to download for free without having to subscribe to the lessons. You can view the lessons 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. The lessons are designed around the classical guitar style (nylon strings played with the fingers). The best way to learn any instrument is having a qualified teacher to show you how to do it, but if you are having problems getting in touch with one you should consider all the alternative options available online also.
