I've been doing some research trying to find out what year my son's custom was made. Problem is that I found out on Gibson's web site that the custom's are numbered differently from the rest. You have to have a acrobat reader to get the serial number and every time I try downloading it my stupid server times out on me.

As far as I know Customs are not numbered differently from the others. Certainly my '79 Custom is numbered as mentioned on the Gibson site. The number you have does not appear to be a valid number, and I don't believe it has anything to do with the fact that the guitar is a Custom.
