Question:
I'm sort of new to bass playing and am looking to buy my first 4-string bass. I have about $1000 or less to spend and am looking for an easy to play, light weight bass with a small width neck and good action (I have small hands). I'd like to get some opinions on three Ibanez basses:
Answer:
For action and narrow neck, any mid-to-high priced Ibanez will do very nicely. Jon is right with the note about used basses. You can tell how they've been treated in the past with a fairly brief and simple inspection, and you will get alot more instrument for your money. As for the thing about '70's basses, I think they vary as much as modern ones. I would go for a newer Ibanez over any vintage model simply as a matter of economy. Also, there are no vintage Ibanez basses. I love my EXB404, but of the three you listed, I would go with a on of the SR models. I have played both SRs and Ergodynes in the stores, and the SR is a bit lighter with nicer action and what feels like a slightly narrower neck.
