Question:
I don't care for the feel or bright sound of round wound bass strings. Has anyone used either GHS Brite Flats (or other ground wounds), flat wounds, or nylon tape wounds on an acoustic/electric bass like the Washburn AB-25? With what result? I am not concerned about the unamplified sound since it is always used with an amp during gigs.

I used the tapewounds, and found them to be thick and inflexible. They had a good amount of thud when played. The thickness, combined with the non-readily adjustable bridge made the action a bit stiff, and being the low action *freak* I am, well... . My ABG is 34 scale. On shorter scale bass' they might be stiffer. My ability to make a roundwound fretted bass sound like an upright(ish) bass is more flexible, than a set of strings that locked me into one sound. That said, if you had the bridge adjusted, committed to them, and all, I can't see why they wouldn't do a good job.
