I have a freind who's looking for an entry-level bass clarinet. Can anyone out there make a recommendation.? Seems like Yamaha, U.S.Selmer, and Vito all in plastic are the only new models available. Which is best..?

You mentioned three possibilities. Actually, the Yamaha plastic bodied bass clarinets are made for them by Leblanc. They are stencils of the Vito.
