Alesis Studio 24 vs. simaller Mackie.

Tagged As: Alesis Studio 24

Question:
I have an Alesis Studio 24. I guess it sounds ok for what I'm doing and for what it is. It by no mean compares to the SSL 6000 or the Soundcraft 2020 we have at school but it gets the job(s) done and I guess the results are satisfying. I was just wondering what the general opinion of the Alesis board compared to a popular Mackie model is. How does the EQ and pre's compare? I have used Mackies but not in the same enviroment as my studio or for recording at all.

Answer:
I've had both... It's my opinion that the Mackies are cleaner sounding all around... That being said, I still actually liked the Alesis because the mic pre's were a little colored (to the creamy side, less high end maybe), but that board had a LOT of crosstalk and I hated that... Frankly, if you have the money, take a look at the Mackie... It's cleaner all around and not even close to the crosstalk problems. If not, the Alesis will serve it's purpose and work fine as a mixer.
