opinions on Alesis Studio 32

Question:
I'm thinking about buying an Alesis studio 32 16 track recording console mixer. Is this a good starting mixer to use to record? The reason I chose this is because of its 16 direct outs. I'm new to recording but to me, this seems very desirable. I was thinking about using an alesis ADAT 8 track recorder to go along with it and possible another one so I can record all 16 tracks simultaneously. I was also thinking about a mackie 1604 vlz but it only has 8 direct outs for recording.

Answer:
've had one for two years and as far a vesitility, it works well. The mic pre-amps are good and there are a number of routing options. I had planned on buying an ADAT, but had a kid instead -- oh well. I have a Roland JV1080 and Alesis DM 5, between the two they have 4 pairs of stereo outs adding the ADAT would have given me a total of 16 channels. I tried a Mackie, but at the time they really didn't have anything in the same class.
