Question:
I have an SG doubleneck that is so top heavy that it is almost impossable to play it while standing. I have to hold the necks up and play at the same time. If I should let go of it it divebombs. I have heard of a couple straps that are available. One is like suspenders and anouther is something like a belt. Does anyone know anything about these straps?
Answer:
I also have a Gibson Doubleneck and had the same problem. After talking to a bunch of people, and chatting on the net and told you can't do it, I put a real gibson strap button on the 6 string neck. It works great, the extra couple of inches of wood (you hang your guitar on an angle) on the other side of the center of gravity does the trick. To be super critical of this, the guitar when you are NOT holding it now wants to sit forward a bit, but the weight of your right arm is more then enough to keep it flat against your body. Using real Gibson strap buttons makes it look stock. This made the guitar(s?) much more useful and I'm no longer trying to do a fast grab when I change. Why Gibson doesn't do this I still don't know.
