Question:
I have a mackie mixer, looking to get a larger one. Behringer mixers are very well priced, looking mainly at the UB2442 FX-Pro with the new built in 24bit effects and virtualizer capabilities. Has anyone here used BOTH Behringer & mackie and can compare the sound...or simply have an idea of the quality as I will be using it to produce my current CD.
Answer:
-Try a google search on this subject at dejanews.com, this subject has been beaten to death here, you'll get a lot to read on this. My quick answer is that the Behringer will be a step down in every regard from the Mackie. (they aint that cheap by magic.) My impressions were that the Behringers sound and feel like what they are: cheaply made mixers using low grade parts and low build standards which have a sound that is pretty unpleasant in most regards. (there are a considerable group that would agree with me, some that don't) Not to mention, the design was pretty much ripped off from Mackie. I'd do some research on it, see if those limitations (sound, build quality, etc) are things you can live with and if it will work for you for your needs. Or, just save some extra pennies, and get a better mixer than either the Mackie or Behringer.
