Why is that problem with my Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer ?

Tagged As: Behringer Eurorack Ub802 Mixer

Question:
I've just bought a new sound card so i can record audio in Cubase SX but i'm encountering the usual 'dont have a clue what i'm doing type of problems. I've got a Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer and a audiophile 2496 card. I've got the FX send of the mixer going to the inputs of the card. The outputs of the card are connected to the line ins on channel 3/4. Now, the problem is that i'm only picking up a signal from input1 through the soundcard and nothing through input 2. ie, i'm only reciving a mono signal. If i swap the red cable for the white, which is plugged into FX send, I then only recieve a signal from input 2. Why is this? Do i need some sort of stereo send or something?

Answer:
The FX send on the UB802 is a mono send. I'm running EXACTLY the same setup here, and here's how I have it set up. Audiophile Out (stereo) > Tape In (stereo phono connectors) on Mixer Control Room out on Mixer > Monitors Main Mix out on mixer (2 x jacks) > Audiophile Input (2 x phono) To hear output from the Audiophile, you need to press in the Tape to Ctrl Room button. Use the Phones / Control Room pot to control volume to the monitors. If you want to record an external signal, you can monitor it using the Monitor Mixer in the Audiophile control panel. Lets say, for example, you want to record some vocals. Plug the mic into channel 1 of the UB802, and turn up the gain, channel level pot, and main mix pot. Under the Patchbay / Router tab of the audiophile control panel select monitor mixer in the left hand column (Wav Out 1/2), then use the faders in the Monitor Mixer tab to control the levels you hear the output from the PC and the mic.
