I am the chief engineer for a volunteer-run non-commercial radio station in Atlanta (WREK, www.wrek.org). We are installing two new turntables in our main studio and will be including a mixer in between the decks.
Answer:
If the DJ's spinning are mostly turntablists, then placing the decks in battle position would be OK.
