Question:
I have a seck 122 mixer with xlr outputs, which I want to use to input to the onboard soundcard on my PC. I purchased two xlr to phono conversion plugs which I attached to the mixer outputs... and fed this through a phono to a 3.5mm stereo jack... which was connected to the line input of my PC soundcard... Now comes the problem... the output is almost non existent.... do I need a transformer to match the xlr output of the mixer to the line input of my soundcard? appreciate any advice you can give me on this...
Answer:
I'm not sure what piece you need, but yes, you need to adapt the output to your PC. If I remember right, the XLR is a very low level and your PC is looking for a line level or more. The words phantom power keep popping into my head, and I suspect it is related to that issue. My Behringer mixer has phantom power on it, and I know that it says in some instances I'll have to use phantom to power the devices, because of the lower level from the devices.
