A Building PA / Audio System

Tagged As: Pa Audio

Question:
I'm not sure whether this is the correct group to ask, but I'll try anyway. We have a campus of buildings at a retirement village. All buildings are connected. We need to work out a PA system for emergencies that could be activated from a central location, and sent out to all the buildings or just one, or just one floor of one building. We can do it with just normal speaker wire and amplifiers, but we're looking for a way to save on running miles of cable. I was told that there is a way that we could run our audio over coax cables and put multiplexers in each building. I don't know anything about multiplexers. Is this possible? Can they be remotly controlled? Through the same wire? Where can I go to get more information on systems like this.

Answer:
-Try www.valcom.com. They have 2 possibilities using the VoIP solution on a network connection, or hardwired zone paging using 2 wires to each speaker.
