Question:
Cakewalk seems to have 4 products that may serve my purposes: - Sonar - Home Studio 2002 - Plasma - Music Creator 2002 Plus various XL versions of above which just seem to have more goodies. From reading Cakewalk's web site, it sounds like the 39$ Music Creator will do what I want (MIDI, audio recording and mixing), but it is so full of hype is doesn't tell you what it lacks, that the more expensive product have. The only comparisons they present are against competitors' products. Anyone know of any comparisons between Cakewalk products?
Answer:
Sonar gives you unlimited audio and midi tracks, the most professional quality effects, and the most DXi softsynths. This is what I use. Homestudio 2002 is limited to 16 audio tracks (midi still unlimited), fewer effects and only 2 DXi softsynths. Music Creator 2002 I believe is limited to 8 audio tracks (I could be wrong) (midi still unlimited), even fewer effects still and only a single DXi softsynth. Plasma is more of a DJ sampling/looping program than a straightforward multi track recording package.
