Case worries/query about Schecter

Tagged As: Case Guitar Schecter

Question:
Recently I bought a Schecter Omen-6 and I got a free case with it. The first case I got did not fit the guitar very well at all: -When nothing was supporting the neck in the bracey thing (sorry for the vagueness) the headstock was resting on the bottom of the case, and I did not like this because I thought it would damage the neck, maybe warp it. -When I had something there to hold it up (I used a sock), the top of the case would push down on the bridge. When the buckles weren't closed and the case was just resting, the top part of the case was about 5-7 cm's above the bottom (the part where they meet in other words) I rang up the place where we got the guitar from and told them this, they said to bring it back and they'd change it for a better one and I'd only have to pay $20 (which, considering I'm from a town over 2 hours away, usually three in moderate traffic, was nothing short of a pain). Now that I have this case, it is nowhere near as bad as the old one, but it is still pressing down slightly on the bridge and strings (it's left a slight indentation on the top of the case). It's not really pushing the strings down on the neck that I am aware of. Is there any chance that this can cause my guitar any long-term, or short-term, damage?

Answer:
Depends on the case. If it's one of those velvet Elvis type interiors, I wouldn't worry about a slight indentation. A snug fit is probably preferable to a case that lets the guitar flop around like a salmon. You realize, of course, that that is not a Telecaster. The guitar should fit snugly, or it would move around. You shouldn't have to sit on it, though. A slight indentation in the plush interior is normal.
