Fostex VC8 w/ Frontier Design DesignCenter/PCI

Tagged As: Fostex Vc 8

Question:
Having recently purchased a Frontier Design DesignCenter/PCI dirt cheap, I'm now in the market for an A/D/A converter box. I've been looking at the Tango24 (also from Frontier Design) and the Fostex VC8.

Answer:
I have a Tango24 I use with a Frontier Dakota card and Fostex D-series recorders. I bought mine prior to the VC-8 being upgraded to 20 bit and Alesis coming out with the AI-3. Both the Alesis and the Fostex are less money than the Tango24. I have found the Tango24 to be reliable (mine travels on the road for live recording) but cheeses me off because it has a wall wart. Otherwise, I'm very happy with it.
