Question:
I've seen some of the talk about being able to record numerous audio tracks simultaneously and I'm a bit confused. After I get a midi file the way I like it in CWPA 8, I solo each track and record it dry and non-panned to audio. After all the tracks are recorded one by one I typically open all of them in Cool Edit in a multi-track session and pan, adjust volume, add effects, etc. then mix down to a stereo wav. file. I'm using a SBlive as a sampler and a Yamaha SW1000XG as a tone module/audio card.
Answer:
A multi input audio card allows simultaneous recording of tracks to disk - so if you wanted to record a whole band, with mics on each instrument, or 8 stereo synthesizers simultaneously, you could. I work both ways, depending on the project.
