Portable multitrack

Tagged As: Portable Multitrack

Question:
Ernie's post about portable multitrack got me thinking about how I do this.

Answer:
I would stick with the ADAT. The process of recording raw tracks at the gig and mixing them in the studio works great. First did it with my Fostex B-16 at a barbershop concert. To beat you to it - yeah, the hair was flying everywhere. Used a board only as a level matching device between the PA board's insert points and the B16. I would only use a DAW because it's there and the application wasn't critical, i.e. recording some friends at a jam. If I was getting paid for it I would want to have two systems.
