Question:
I'm trying to find a nice case for my Gibson SG Junior. The one I have for it isn't the best fit and isn't that great of a case to begin with. I know I don't want an SKB case; I don't like how the shell is so slick which causes the case to slide around a bit when packed up. I was looking at a Gibson case, but reviews are spotty at best and, for $130, I would expect much more positive results. So far, the ones I like best are by Canadian (which might be an unbranded Gibson case for all I know), TKL and Guardian: Canadian: http://tinyurl.com/lzdn8 Guardian: http://tinyurl.com/padv4 TKL: http://tinyurl.com/ru4d9 The one small complaint I have about the TKL is that I don't care for the black interior, but that's minor compared to wanting a durable case. None of the cases thrill me for one reason or another, but any of them would probably do the job. I'm open to other suggestions.
Answer:
The Canadian looks like the TKL Prestige Series to me. It even says TKL on the picture .. but I'd call Elerly and ask. The Guardian looks like the MF case, and for some reason looks cheaper to me. The link you provided to the TKL case is the cheaper model .. the Premier. I'd go with the Elderly deal myself. I have a Gibson case which supposedly was made by TKL, and it's fine. All cases slide, by the way. The TKL/Gibson cases have metal sliders for that purpose. You'll find the wood and fabric cases tend to wear more obviously. The fabric rips or wears through and the wood dents and chips. You get more of a relic look. ;-) I don't think any of those cases are flight worthy these days, and in some ways the SKB type are more practical, but if you want the wood/fabric case, I'd go with the Canadian for sure.
