Question:
I have a Trek 920 that says singletrack on the frame. How does this differ from a multitrack? I have semi-slick tires on it and use it for the road all the time... I don't understand. Can someone explain?
Answer:
MultiTracks, as several have mentioned, are hybrids. The name Single Track is a marketing ploy, although the frame geometry is quite good for singletrack. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details (last round of bike shopping was a while ago), but Trek Single Tracks are basically standard frames with a slightly cheaper drivetrain, etc., rigid fork in most cases, and I think better stem & bar than the standard model. Essentially for someone who wants a good solid frame for the lowest price and plans to do lots of upgrades later.
