why are hardshell guitar case so expensive?

Tagged As: Hardshell Guitar Cases

Question:
I have seen gun hard case that cost like 15 dollars used at gun shows and such, but why is guitar case made of the same material so much more expensive (like starts at 50 dollars) is it because guitar cases has dual uses....?

Answer:
Gun cases generally prevent scratching etc. Guns aren't as delicate as guitars..at least acoustic ones. A good case protects as well as helps control humidity. A good guitar case is constructed very differently than your average gun case. Several layers of velour, wood, metal, fiberglass...depends on the case. I don't have a problem spending a few hundred dollars on a guitar costing a couple of thousand. This isn't what you were hoping for, but hardshell cases are the best bargain going if you have a guitar you care anything about. 20 years ago (in 20 years ago *dollars*), any hardshell case was $100. Today, if you can't find a *good* hardshell case for $75 (in today's money), you aren't looking very hard. And as I said: the best investment you'll ever make in an instrument if you care about that instrument.
