Question:
I do not really know what to say at this point. I was 100% Blown Away. I expect great things from Line 6, but this takes the cake. I forever discounted the whole modeling thing until I needed a bunch of tones for a gig I was doing. I used a POD Pro for a few days, and have not gone back. I was hooked! I saw the ads a few months ago, as we all did, and said, No Way this can be for real. I have waited, not very patiently, for this guy to come to fruition. Well, our Line 6 Rep brought it in today! 100% believable guitar models. the Les Paul sounds like a Les Paul, the Strat Sounds like a strat. I was not totally impressed hearing someone else play it, I was 100% Blown Away when I played it. I could feel the differences as I played it. The sounds made me want to play like the guitar I was modeling, not the physical guitar I was playing. It was GREAT!! This was also not the final version, so there are still upgrades to be done before it hits the streets at the end of the month. It does cool things on the LP setting, like in the #4 position on the 5 way it is a 59 GoldTop with P-90, and the #2 Position is the P-90 in Neck position. The Special setting has LP Junior, Firebird, and LP Special settings. I was speechless. Our rep had to get to the airport, and I had a hard time letting it go. The one big thing I was worried about was the playability of the instrument. It is a Korean Made guitar, but a lot of attention has been paid to make sure that it does not seem like an import instrument. It is a very solid guitar, and plays wonderfully. I would imagine that as soon as you get it you will need to set it up, but that is common on most guitars that you buy under $1000.00 anyway (And they only sound like 1 guitar)!! Any comment?
Answer:
The rep that brought the guitar in played it for me through the Line 6 Duo-Verb. First thought was, he knows the tricks to make it sound like he would want it to sound, and I was not very impressed. I then played it for myself, and was really impressed. I am not totally familiar with the Duo Verb (it was easy, but I am still new on it) so I plugged it into a Carr Rambler and a Maxon OD-808 and was very impressed. An amp and stomp box I know well! It was at that point that I realized that this was what it claimed to be. Believe me, I didn't think it would work this well. If anyone has read other posts of mine they will know, I try to be as honest about gear as I can. I try (like a record reviewer) to review things that I like. The rep had to pry this thing out of my hands. Granted, it is an import guitar, but assembled in the USA when the parts are installed. Does this make it play like a PRS, Suhr, McInturff, Fender Custom Shop??????? NO, but with a great set-up (including a new nut) it will be a perfectly fine instrument. I was impressed, as I said before, I don't want you people to think I am spamming the newsgroup, I had seen posts asking if anyone had played it, so I figured I would let you know what I thought. Please let me know if you have any other questions about it, I am just trying to join in on the fun!!
