Question:
I'm looking to buy a guitar multi effects pedal. I went to the closest music store about 35 miles away and played through the Zoom gfx-8. It was okay but I thought it wasn't very clean. The store didn't have the digitech RP2000 or the BOSS GT3. I have also been reading about the digitech RP3 but I don't have any way to listen to these different processors before buying. I would like to get some input from users of these pedals (or any others that I may have overlooked).
Answer:
You really ought to take the time to go somewhere where you can try them all. I have the RP2000, and I love it, and would recommend it to anyone. But there are other people who hate it. Just remember that most of the multi-effects have their own pre-amps, and need to be plugged into the effects return, NOT the amp input. If you plug straight into the front input, you will sound like crap, because your signal is being pre-amped twice. Happy hunting.
