Guitar Effects help

Tagged As: Manual Effects On Guitar

Question:
I'm using a Boss GT-6 running it threw a GFX-30 crate amp and using an RG570 series 6 string electric guitar. I guess I am still ignorant on using the processor/pedal (it's my first time to own one). But it is clearly obvious that the distortion is muddy and cheap. The distortion doesn't show my guitar's beautiful tone like it did when I just used a simple Metal Zone distortion pedal. I bought Boss GT-6 so I could put nice crunchy heavy improved distortion, show off my guitar's beautiful tone, get some extra effects in their such as flanger or phaser (which sound excellent), and of course improve the over all sound. Well so far that is not happening. Do I still need to work with the pedal or is this thing a complete bust when it comes to warm bad ass distortion?

Answer:
Make sure your amp is set for its clean channel....and also try tweaking the settings on the GT-6. Those kind of pedals have all kinds of hidden settings, so you might want to read the manual to see if there are some settings that your overlooking.

The Boss Gt-6 Has metal zone in its list of overdrive/distortion section, also you could choose to use a rectifier in the preamp to add a total barrage of distortion keep on exploring your money is well spent! For the amount of effects pedals ,preamps distortions etc, etc, you could spend a ton of money, just have patience and keep adjusting and exploring.
