Question:
I want to be able to setup my guitars myself. Can anyone recommend a good book on this? I'm not looking to do any major work, just the basics.
Answer:
I just got a copy of ritchie flieglers books the complete guide to guitar and amp maintenance. while it's a very good book and I'd recommend it in a second, my librarian informs me that I have several others which I ordered on interlibrary loan coming in.. so if you wait a couple of weeks I'll be reviewing those in the groups... you can send an email and I'll send those opinions directly to you, too, if you like. two catalogs which are free and which have quite a few good books on the subject are: http://www.stewmac.com and http://www.jumpnet.com/~musicianworkshop I will probably buy one or two after I've had a chance to see what more of them are like. I own donald brosnacs book, guitar electronics and think it is just fantastic. it's really helped me out a lot, more than once. I also have don teeters book, the acoustic guitar, volume one, and heartily recommend it as well. flieglers books uses strats and les pauls for the most part, but does give good information and covers whammys like the floyd rose and amps as well...
