Question:

wondering who has info or sotries about how martin handles it's repair work, waranty stuff, turn around, quality etc

Answer:

My experiences: In 1978 I had a D28 operated on by the authorized repair guys in Nashville. I think they did a neck reset (it's a long time ago) and I remember being very disappointed in the fit and finish. I have had two things done to Martin guitars here in Houston by the same authorized repair guy and I won't go back to him. Seems to be a lack of attention to detail. Mechanically, I am not dissatisfied, but a luthier should not be a mechanic (or visa versa). I have never heard anything really bad about the factory service, though. Long delays and all but nothing about crappy repairs or screwing up the finish. I heard several years ago that what Martin did was to contract out most of the factory repair work that came in but when I called Martin recently about getting the bridge reglued on my 000-28 (warranty service) they said that they did it all in house. I have also heard that the person you talk to on the phone may not have all the true information, though.
